1. It had closed it's auction service in Singapore recently. US and Canada are the first to go in 16 June, and followed by the UK and Ireland on 28 June. As eBay has proven its dominance in the online auctioning market, Yahoo is streamlining its focus onto areas of their company that are going strong, while dropping those that are faltering. There is speculation that the Yahoo deal with eBay may have something to do with Yahoo’s retirement of their Auctions service, which determines that Yahoo will use eBay as a preferred payment option and eBay will list Yahoo Ads in their search results. The fact that Google’s Checkout payment system has ruffled more than a few feathers, including eBay and MySpace, means that a partnership between eBay and Yahoo is a rather important one.
