- You have to be totally fluent in written Japanese..!! If not, you won't be able to understand the pages - don't think an online translator will work, because the few things that DO get translated will be nonsense..! And you won't understand the legally binding contract you have to agree to...! Do you REALLY want to give these people your credit card details, and permission to remove cash from your account every month, without understanding the rules??? Not to mention the fact that you could easily end up giving the wrong product details if you don't know Japanese ... and then you would be breaking the rules, and you'd have any payments you'd received deducted from your credit card! You would have to pay the postage on the returned items too - both ways! It could be nasty...! Your best bet is to use English language only auction sites, Japanese people may well still find them, and then it's the Japanese customer's fault if he doesn't understand your advert properly..! Of course, if you DID read and write fluently in Japanese, you wouldn't be here asking this question..! So I assume that everything I've typed is relevant..! ; )
- ♡First, you have to sign up and get a Yahoo Japan ID to be able to log onto Yahoo Japan Auctions. http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/ You then have to register with Yahoo Japan Auctions to use their service, there is a monthly service charge for doing so! It will be billed to your credit card on a monthly basis. I also think you must be fluent in Japanese to avoid any problems! You must then be able to read and write Japanese so that you can post, answer and carry out your auction from start to finish. Also, many times questions are asked about your item, you have to be able to give details. You have to be able to view Japanese characters on your computer as well. I'm an American living in Japan and my hubby is Japanese, so I have no problem because he helps me! Also, you have to take into consideration that many Yahoo Japan Auctions DO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONALLY. I occasionally order things from Japanese living in the US who use Yahoo Japan Auctions and have something I need/want, but the payment is done to a Japanese bank transfer. And many people don't want to pay the high postage from another country too. These people are fluent in Japanese and English usually. People may also be hesitant to forward money outside of Japan. But, if you're fluent in Japanese, sign up and give it a try! Hope this helps and good luck!♡
