How do i find a local police auction near me?

Mother is taking the car that is supposed to be given to me so i need to get a cheap decent car nothing extravagant. 1000 or less if possible or is that not going to happen?

1. look on craigslist.com or the pennysaver
2. Just call the local sherriff's office. They should be able to tell you when the next sale is and where it is located.
3. Usually the police departments don't auction off their vehicles, or crime confiscated vehicles to the public. Normally there are wholesalers who buy or at least broker those units. I know that in my town there is one used car lot that gets all police and sheriff vehicles.
4. In the advertisement section, of your local newspaper or search for police auctions on the web.
