Can you still negotiate for tires at a discount tire chain?
I am going to get new tires at a chain like Discount Tire or Tire America and wanted to ask - Can I negotiate or do I just pay the price quoted?

- Well... They have a ton of discounts available. For example: Student discount, auto workers discount, etc. For flat out negotiating the price, I don't think you can do that.
- The prices are in the computer, so there's not much to negotiate. HOWEVER, they do have coupons they can throw in. Just the other day I had to go to a WheelWorks to get 2 new tires for my Olds (yes, I drive an Olds). I was told that my factory OEM Michelins are no longer made. The guy then offered me a MUCH better tire... Falken ZE-512's for about the same price. I told him I'd think about it... And he offered me a $20 coupon if I make up my mind. Sold! Even WITH installation and balancing and rotation it's under $200 for both tires.
- other than coupons no....they person you talk to is they guy that gives you the set price from the big corporations that own the stores i work for tires plus and when i buy tires i pay 10% over store cost unless there is a special the company is running so no....one of the salesman gets angry when customers ask if he can give them a cheaper price....you dont go to the grocery store and take a loaf of bread the the register and ask if they can knock some money off.....or do you?
